One of the most exciting moments in Sheriff of Nottingham is when the Sheriff decides to inspect another player’s bag to see if they are lying or honest. With this card, if the Sheriff’s inspection reveals the player was telling the truth about all the other goods in their bag, then the Sheriff not only owes the player the penalty for those cards in their bag, but also an additional 8 gold, as the Sheriff slowed down the player on their way to Prince John himself. That’s right, it’s your “free pass” that lets you take the Sheriff for all he’s worth… or at least a good amount of what he’s worth!
